Streetskids Home Bet-El in Portachuelo
In Portachuelo, about 80 kilometers from Santa Cruz, Misión Timoteo has a home for the boys who had been living on the streets of Santa Cruz and other cities. Most of them are addicted to drugs. This home is situated on the land of the farm, which was donated by the Dutch embassy.
Bet-el was constructed in 2003-2004 with help of the Dutch evangelical television. It was opened in 2005. The project has a big house to live for the boys with their tutors, several classrooms to teach them, a soccer field, and houses for the tutors, the volunteers and the director. It is situated in the midst of nature and many animals. It is about 9 kilometers from Portachuelo, where the boys can go to school.
The kids we work with are between 10 and 15 years old and they come from Santa Cruz ( a city of about one and a half million people) and surroundings. The therapeutic treatment they get has the following goals:
- To introduce the Lord Jesus to the boys
- To show them what and how it is to live life with the Lord Jesus
- To liberate them from their addictions
- To educate them and guide them
- To place them back in the community in a decent and worthy way.
